As construction workers build a new waste-handling plant at a former landfill, they are careful to not harm the badger population that calls the area home.

The former Longman landfill site is now home to families of badgers. With the construction of a new waste-handling plant, the badgers have been disrupted, however, not without some protective measures pushback. The animal is a protected species and therefore has been allotted regular monitoring by an ecologist and a 32-foot exclusion zone. Due to both these measures and a rise in the cost of building materials, the cost of the project has risen to Â£14m.
