University of California-Berkeley’s Haas School of Business has appointed Danner Doud-Martin as the new Sustainability Director for the school and she looks to keep the campus on track to maintaining zero-waste policies.
Doud-Martin moves into her new role after being the Associate Director of the International Business Development program. Her focus currently is on eliminating single-use plastics and pivoting to reusable cups and using compostable utensils and cups at the business school’s events. Her next mission is to eliminate plastic bottles from graduation and recycling gowns.
The entire university has lofty plans to achieve climate neutrality from building and vehicle use by 2025 and to be completely carbon neutral by 2050.
In 2017, Doud-Martin was a tentpole in the effort to build Chou Hall, the School’s first and only zero-waste building. Everything generate in Chou Hall is compostable or recyclable, and all event planners and caterers are required to follow a zero-waste guideline.
