Covanta Completes Renovation of Massachusetts Waste Transfer Station

Article-Covanta Completes Renovation of Massachusetts Waste Transfer Station

Covanta Energy Corp. has completed a renovation of the Braintree, Mass., waste transfer station Covanta operates for the city.

Renovations to the facility include a new sound barrier wall, fence and truck traffic pattern with enclosures to reduce noise, and an air filtration system for mitigating odors, the Morristown, N.J.-based Covanta said in a news release. The transfer station can accept up to 374,000 tons of municipal solid waste annually and has the potential to accept material for recycling.

The facility provides sustainable waste management services at the Covanta SEMASS waste-to-energy facility in Rochester, Mass.

Covanta has operated the Braintree Transfer Station since its inception in 1989 and recently reached an agreement with the town of Braintree to continue operating the facility until 2030.
