The European Union published a draft regulation planning to potentially ban the use of mini-shampoo bottles at hotels and throwaway cups at restaurants and cafes. The proposed regulation comes as part of the EU's attempts to curb the creation of unnecessary waste. The regulation follows another regulation banning most common single-use plastic products such as plastic cutlery, stirrers, and straws. It is believed that the latest proposal will reduce packaging waste per capita by 15% by 2040.
