A former Clover Flat landfill worker is seeking $150 million for those affected by alleged unlawful practices.
According to the complaint, Jose Garibay Jr. was a former employee at the Napa Valley landfill from 2019 until 2022. He began his employment as a driver and was quickly promoted to manager, but then terminated for no reason.
Garibay had sent information to "several" agencies about alleged hazardous environmental practices and employee health and safety concerns.
The Pestoni family most recently owned the landfill and Upper Valley Disposal Service. Waste Connections acquired Upper Valley in October 2022.
