The city of Kalamazoo is reminding citizens to throw only approved recyclable materials into recycling bins, after an entire load of materials could not be recycled due to contamination.

The city of Kalamazoo was notified on Tuesday, April 14, that an entire load of recyclables, 2.39 tons of material, was found to be contaminated and could not be recycled. The contamination included items including yard waste, tires, trash bags, household trash and many other non-recyclable items, the city said.
