With a growing number of mattresses going to landfills, many different organizations are beginning to instate systems to recover recyclable materials from them rather than letting each one go to waste.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council adds mattresses to recycling trial. With anywhere between 1.6 and 1.8 million mattresses ending up in Australian landfills per year, the shift is to preserve landfill space by recovering as much material from the landfills as possible. Partnering with Ability Enterprises, some teams within the organization have been known capable to process 100 to 300 mattresses a week.
