Entergy is proposing a new plan to bring nearly 225 MW of solar power to Louisiana through two facilities within the next few years.

Integrated energy company, Entergy, is requesting to add two solar projects in Louisiana that would total 225 MW.

If agreed upon, the Louisiana Public Service Commission would enter a 20-year agreement with Coastal Prairie Solar, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, for a solar project that would be build in Iberville Parish which would produce 175 MW of energy.

The proposal would also allow Entergy to build and operate a 49 MW project in Ouachita Parish, known as the Sterlington Solar Facility.

Construction for the Iberville facility may begin in the spring of 2024, if the proposal is approve, with the aim to be fully operational in 2025. Shortly thereafter, in early 2026, the Sterlington Solar Facility project would begin production.
