The New York City Sanitization Department has announced new rules to hopefully diminish the city's rat population.

As a means of bringing down NYC's large rat population, the sanitization department has announced plans to implement new rules. The largest of these rules will be a requirement that residents and businesses are not allowed to take their trash out until 8 PM the night before their trash is picked up. The hope is that the less time the trash sits outside, the less opportunities the rats will have. This is a change compared to the city's prior 4 PM allowed time.
