Robert Massey, owner of Oil Chem Inc, has been sentenced to one year in prison for dumping 47 million gallons of leachate in Flint, Mich. sewers.
Over an eight year period, Massey directed workers to drain leachate from a tank into a sanitary sewer drain in violation of a wastewater discharge permit.
The discharge point was downstream from drinking water in the Flint River. The leachate was untreated.
