Pratt Foundation Donates $1M for COVID-19 Treatment
The funds will be used to trial two existing drugs that may help those infected with the coronavirus.

The Pratt Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Australia-based packaging company Visy Industries, is donating $1 million for COVID-19 treatment. The donation, which is led by Anthony Pratt, chairman of Visy Industries and Pratt Industries, is being provided to the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne and will be used to trial two existing drugs that may help those infected with the coronavirus.

According to Visy, the trial will commence on April 6 and involve 2,440 people over 60 days in 60 hospitals across Australia and New Zealand.

Australia's richest man Anthony Pratt has donated $1million to fund the trial of two drugs that may help patients suffering from COVID-19.

The drugs, used in the treatment of HIV and arthritis, will be trialled by the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne on Monday, The Australian reported.

Mr Pratt, who is the billionaire chairman of packaging companies Visy Industries and Pratt Industries, also issued 'a call to arms' to Australia's wealthiest to join the fight against COVID-19, as the number of confirmed cases hit 4,514.
