COVID-19 is placing severe strains on the operating capability of many businesses. This reality is forcing, in many cases, the layoffs of workers or a severe reduction in working hours per week. However, this reality is placing additional strains on many essential industries in the health and sanitation field.
Waste removal company J. P. Mascaro & Sons has indicated that although it is seeing some reduction in services from some businesses, the opposite is occurring in the municipal and industrial sectors. Residents and companies are using this unique period as an opportunity to perform across the board cleaning, and demand for services has increased.
Pat Mascaro, junior director of human resources for Mascaro, indicated that the company will be adding a significant amount of new positions for drivers, helpers and mechanics.
In addition, Rumpke Waste & Recycling announced it, too, is looking for new employees.

Trash and recycling collection workers are an important line in curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to Rumpke Waste & Recycling, which said it is looking for new employees.
“We can’t have piles of trash at the curb because that would continue the spread,” said Rumpke spokeswoman Molly Yeager Broadwater.
